Bermuda High School IB Diploma Test Results
Bermuda High School [BHS] today [July 17] announced the results of its 2018 International Baccalaureate Diploma cohort, with students achieving “a 100% pass rate in the IB Individual subjects and an 85% pass rate in the IB Diploma.”
Head of School Linda Parker said, “We are delighted to report that we achieved a 100% pass rate in the IB Individual subjects and an 85% pass rate in the IB Diploma this year. This result is considerably higher than the worldwide average of 79%.
“Ava Marshall achieved the top score with 36 points and will be attending Queen’s University, Canada, where she will be studying Business. Other high scorers are as follows: Brianna Correia, Jacqueline Costello, Mollie O’Donnell, and Sadia Wilson who all received 35 points.
“Brianna will be attending Union University in Tennessee to study Cell and Molecular Biology, while Jacqueline will be taking a Liberal Arts degree at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Mollie will be studying Economics at Hamilton College, New York, while Sadia will be studying Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Bristol, UK.”

Kate Ross, Head of IB and IB Coordinator, said, “Over the past 17 years that we have been offering the IB Diploma Programme at BHS, we have witnessed the immense value that it provides our students by way of excellent preparation for university and an enhanced global perspective.
“At BHS, every student is given the opportunity to undertake this challenging programme, and this year 34 of the 40 graduates sat the full IB Diploma. Working with students and parents, we guide and support them over the two years, and help them reach, and often exceed, their potential. It is incredibly rewarding to see them realise the academic success that they have worked so hard to achieve.”
This year’s graduates have a diverse range of interests and exciting plans for the future, with most of them heading off to universities in Canada, the USA and the UK.
Some of the disciplines to be studied include Art and Design, Business, Biomolecular Sciences, Dance, Education, Economics, Global Politics, Gerontology, Journalism, Kinesiology, Law, Liberal Arts, Marine Biology, Musical Theatre Performance, Neuroscience, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Politics and International Relations and Social Sciences.
A spokesperson said, “In Canada, students are heading to Brescia University College, Dalhousie University, Mount St. Vincent University, Queen’s University, Sheridan College, St. Mary’s University, University of Toronto, University of Western Ontario, York University, and Wilfrid Laurier University.
“Graduates going to the USA will attend the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Hamilton College, University of Richmond, Union University and Wake Forest University.
“Some students will attend university in the UK: Bournemouth College of Art, Bristol West of England, Southampton University, University of Bristol, University of Kent, University of Leicester and Leeds College of Art.”
Mrs. Parker said, “Over half of our IB graduates have been with us since Primary, and it has been rewarding to see the girls complete their BHS journey. For the other students who joined us along the way, we are delighted that their BHS experience has prepared them for further success.
“We thank our talented and supportive teachers for their unwavering commitment and subject expertise in helping these students achieve their highest potential. We are very proud of all of our IB students for their hard work over the past two years, and we wish them continued success.”
